Born out of a Love for
Paper & Ink
In a fast-paced digital world, writing by hand is a grounding, therapeutic practice. We believe that the objects you use for journaling should match the depth of your thoughts.
We spent two years testing papers across Japan, analyzing fibers, ink feathering, and binding tension. In 2012, we established partnerships with traditional papermills and started Origami Diaries.

The Craft House
Located off a quiet street in Kyoto, our boutique operates both as a retail space and as our packaging house where every notebook is wrapped by hand in linen cloth.
Where Sustainability Meets Tactility
Our papers are made from rapidly renewable bamboo pulp and cotton fibers, avoiding heavy chemical bleach. This process results in a beautiful cream color that is soft on the eyes and prevents ink bleeding.
Bamboo Fibers
Harvested from managed groves in western Japan, bamboo fibers give paper high tensile strength and a satisfying textured drag for fountain pens.
Thread Stitch Sewing
We employ traditional Smyth-sewn signatures. Every diary can lay completely flat, allowing you to write edge-to-edge without binding friction.
Organic Bookcloth
Our journal covers use raw, unbleached linen and cotton bookcloth. They develop a soft patina as they travel with you over the months.
